After a lifetime of dabbling around the edges of creative things, I’ve finally started applying myself and am getting serious about art. I started painting nearly a year ago, giving myself a 2023 New Year’s Resolution of completing one finished painting each month. I’ve been mostly successful in hitting that goal, and have learned a lot along the way. Now I’m starting this blog to keep myself organized and also to share what I’m learning as I continue moving forward.

The one thing I’d like to mention in this initial post is that creating good paintings is completely achievable for anybody. If you’re interested in painting, you can absolutely do it. Many blogs and how-to books make the whole process seem daunting (and expensive!) This doesn’t have to be the case. You can create great paintings without buying a lot of overpriced specialist crap from the art store. If I can do it, then anybody can.

The first step is telling yourself that you can succeed. This is my approach to life. Other people do it, therefore it’s possible. And if it’s possible, you can do it. Now, let’s get painting.
